The Sputnik price drop has been substantial, but not quite that large.
The camera alone (without printing device or viewer) was commonly sold
on ebay for $175-225 less than 2 years ago.

The Sputnik of course is out of production, so there isn't really
a "wholesale cost" anymore.  Most likely the ebay sellers (many
of whom are based in Russia) are paying extremely low prices to cash-
starved Russian citizens.  I guess it all amounts to an international
virtual pawn shop operation!
