I've been using some NiMH AAs I got from Radio Shack with a charger and have
liked them. I haven't had problems with losing charge "on the shelf" (for a
couple of months anyway). I've used them in a flash and a camera.

I haven't experienced any "memory" with these.
Overall, I find NiMH batteries are much superior to NiCads. I don't have
experience with rechargeable alkalines.
I'm curious with what brand Paul Talbot had his bad experience.
I've seen NiMH batteries cheaper than those I bought and been considering buying
some. Maybe the low prices are at the expense of quality.
