It sounds like there are various strategies and ideas regarding how to
bid in eBay auctions. All have been enlightening and entertaining and I
see the positive and negative of both sides. Personally, I'm a "bid my
maximum" kind of bidder when I see something I want.
However, I also find myself "watching" any auctions that will run for
more than 2 days before I bid. This way I don't tip my hand too early.
Most of my eBay browsing & bidding are done at work where we have
multiple T1 circuits to the outside world. It's much faster than my
56Kb modem at home. Every so often I'll check my bids from home if
there's something I'm really interested in acquiring. Many times
though, evenings and weekends are taken up with family activities and
there isn't much time to check on eBay bids. Still, there was the time
I checked my bid on a Cinderella watch while I was at my parents house.
Even though it was a dutch auction (3 available), I wanted to make sure
I was one of the three!
So, good luck to all you bidders. Here's hoping whatever method you use
works well for you!
