I would like to suggest a scanner comparison...

Do you still have a set of slides of your "pikachu" guys with pencils view?
You gave me one a while back and I would like to try scanning it on my
(~$100) Microtex X6 scanner with stringent specs equal to ones you would use
on your scanner. That way we could have two resulting images that should
theoretically be "equal" allowing for a side by side comparison of
performance. Maybe others who have different slide scanning scanners could
participate as well? I would be glad to put the pictures into a comparison
web page on my web server if anyone if interested...
