Using a counter shows how many times someone has hit your page.  That's
not the same as clicking on the "watch this item" icon which lists the
item in your "my eBay" area.

I watch a lot of items for various reasons.  Sometimes to bid on later,
sometimes to see how much the item went for, sometimes to record a
seller who had stuff I'm interested in.
