I don't think my early VM Personal has the film advance indicator on the
top either. I would have noticed this. I am missing the film-in-camera
indicator because there is some sort of little peg and two open holes
where the manual says this is supposed to be. And, I took a bunch of
film-less photos on the B side back when we actually had some snow in
the yard. Fortunately, I got some before the film ran out too!
