[photo-3d] belplasca problem

I've been working with a Belplasca after years with a Verascope... I'm
interested to see which I really like better.
One thing I DON'T like about my Belplasca is the fact that the slit in the
take up spool is in the MIDDLE of the spool which seems bizarre as all the
film ends are cut to the SIDE... In order to spool on the film, I have to
snip the end each time. Was this problem on all Belplascas? (I don't
remember ever hearing about this problem) Has anyone attempted a fix?
