I'm sure mine must be like yours. It is more like a tab in the middle. (Two
slots with the right end open). Even though it is in the middle, I just slide
the film in and it lays over the right end of the spool. Never had to cut the
film leader and the film has never slipped out when advancing.  It is not a
fun camera to load but no leader trimming required.  My biggest complaint is
feeding it through the sprockets then sliding it into the slot.
My serial number is 04704. Maybe they made some changes.
