[photo-3d] Showscan

Yes, Showscan was incorporated into Natalie Wood's last movie, BRAINSTORM.
Actually, I don't think it was ever released with the showscan segments, but
that was director Douglas Trumbull intention, as I recall. For awhile,
Showscan was set up in some pizza joints (Showbiz Pizza, now Chuckie Cheese,
I believe).

I heard Trumbull speak at USC after a screening of BRAINSTORM, which was to
be released the following week. He said a lot of research had been done on
film formats and physiological reactions. The one element of the film
experience that produced the most profound effects on the viewer was
accelerating the film rate. He was quite excited about it. I thought he was
talking about 60 fps, but it may have been the 40 fps mentioned in the
previous post. At any "rate", speeding up the frame rate greatly enhanced
the sensation of watching a movie--much more than larger negative size, etc.

I hadn't heard about Showscan's chapter 11, but then I haven't heard anything
about Showscan in years so I'm not surprised.
