Paul Talbot asks whether some people cannot see the stereo window
and David Kesner notes that he often comments on window problems in SSA
slide folios.

There was no doubt a time when most of us could admit to the fact that we
knew nothing about mounting for good stereo window and how its position is
simply controlled. It was like a foreign language to us.

The question going begging has nothing to do with the "ability" of any
given person to "see" the stereo window. It has everything to do with the
method used to teach the concept. Lets face it. Initially, the concept IS
difficult to grasp, especially for folio members who never see a projected
show or sit down at a table with a fellow stereo worker.

I have found that lectures and group tuition in this area are almost a
waste of time. The people who can't see it virtually have a mental block
over the thing. I find that one-to-one teaching is the best way by far and
more especially so if the "student" does the mounting under your
supervision. It is not at all uncommon for the "student" to "see it" in
very short time and exclaim: "Its simple - why has everybody been telling
me its difficult"? Its very much like learning to ride a bike. Of course
its simple once you can do it. Before that, its impossible! Conversely,
there will always be a small nucleus who will never apply themselves
sufficiently to master the technique. In folios, it really is pointless to
continue mentioning window problems after the passage of years.

If there is some interest, I can tell of an "international incident" over
this very question: "Is the stereo window a valid theory"?
