Darren,
I just bought the VR Surfer Classic and the Web Surfer Pack. Part of
the reaason I bought it was to create my own stereoscopic images, and
video. Of course, to view what is out there, as well.
I, too, had problems...I mean still have problems. At
http://www.vrex.com/html/classic_pack.html the VR Surfer Classic has
the yellow window with the links for making sure your system
works...you probably know this already.
You may just have been screwed...the links I followed ensured that my
video chips worked. The depth charge plugin works well, but some of
the software does not.
I called them because I felt I was unloaded with old stuff that was
going to be abandonded...and I was right. VRex told me that it was
unsupported software. I would need Windows95. Who uses high-tech
stuff with Win95?
At any rate, to avoid lawsuit. I will mention that they did tell me I
could get a refund if I sent it back within 30 days of purchase, and
also that I don't remember the ezact wording, but obsolete was the
main theme of that phone call(from their end, and I agree).
BUT THEY CLAIMED SOMETHING WHICH IS BOGUS...As I let the Tech support
rep know that they should have made that clear on the site, they said
there was that big yellow notice about software incompatibility, BUT
THERE ISN'T ANYTHING ON THE SITE ABOUT THE SOFTWARE BEING OBSOLETE.
THEY KNOWINGLY ARE SELLING THE VR CLASSIC,PROMOTING IT'S SUPPOSEDLY
GREAT AWESOME DEAL OF A SOFTWARE PACKAGE- WITHOUT ANYTHING ABOUT IT
BEING INCOMPATIBLE W/ NEWER VERSIONS OF WINDOWS. The links to check
out hardware incompatibilities would lead you to assume the software
is good, after all where is the link to check out software
incompatibility?
If they know they are selling obsolete software, then why would they
assume that we are all using an absolete OS? It clearly seems that
they are choosing to avoid letting the seller know it...buyer beware,
I guess.
Good luck. my friend.
Oh yeah, I have an old version of WiN 95 if you'd like it.
Sonny
