That's an indication that the lenses in your viewer are too
small.  You are fortunate that your eye spacing is such that
you can fuse the images with the viewer set the way you describe.
With a Red Button, I cannot.

With large enough lenses, everyone can see all of each image,
and fuse all properly mounted images, with no fiddling with
the interocular.  I think Don misunderstood one of Alan's
points.  Alan didn't say there is great expense in putting
interocular adjustment into a viewer, in fact he said doing
so is *less* expensive than using adequately large lenses.
