I see nothing wrong with making his address public
and, as a matter of fact, I wondered why Golden
said that he was legally prohibited from giving
this guys' address to Grant (or something along
these lines)... He is not a doctor or a lawyer...
Is he prohibited from giving a client's address to
a person immediately concerned with this situation?
Personally, I would like to write him a nice
letter. Perhaps others want to do the same.
No stereoterrorism here...
About the $5 purchase of the Stereo Realist from
the elderly lady, I see nothing wrong as long as the
elderly lady is happy. Personally, I would have given
a small tip (something like $20) out of the goodness
of my heart. A Realist of questionable working
condition does not go very high these days...
Consider the alternative... Garbage or garage
sale? (a lot of valuable stereo equipment and images
have been discarded).
Should I also feel sorry for the dealer who sold a
Realist 2.8 for $100, now knowing the difference
between a 3.5 and a 2.8. No, because most probably
he only paid $5 to buy it from the old lady.
How about the ebay seller that put the stereo viewer
in the wrong category and only sold for $10 instead
of $100? No, I don't feel sorry for him!
Now, if the old lady calls me later crying that this
camera was a family heirloom that was sold by
mistake, I might consider returning it.
Did I tell you the story about the local person,
about 95 years old, long time stereo photographer,
who was admitted at the hospital with the prognosis
that most probably he will not survive the operation?
He survived... But when he got out of the hospital
he was dismayed to discover that his own relatives
had sold his house and his stereo belongings were
sold or donated to the good will, including all his
stereo slides. Bummer!
