I've gotten replacements from places like B&H or Adorama by
mail (ordered over the web last time). In fact mine's about to
expire, need to get a new one. Thanks for reminding me. :-)

Doesn't do that for me. The alpha particles on mine make the air
conductive (when ionized) and that conductive air discharges the
static electricity on the film. That makes the brush "work" rather
than it just moving the dust around the film (sticky due to the
static charge).
I've also a Zerostat gun (gotten a *LONG* time ago for those
flat black things that they used to use before CD's) which will
work well to remove the static charge (by ionizing the air), but
no built-in brush, etc.

Contains polonium. Not good to eat. Alpha particles are pretty tame
as you say.
