Hi Ron!
In a message dated 24/03/01 13:56:42 GMT Standard Time, you wrote:
<< What kind of film recorder are you using?
I have a Polaroid HR6000, but it is not real sharp (ok for projection). For
quality I have to send slides out (I use slides.com).>>
It's an Agfa PCR II being driven by RasterPlus 4.01
<< For scanning I've been using a Nikon Coolscan 2000 (tried the Polaroid
4000,
but it was more pixel-ly and didn't handle subtle areas as well in my
tests). >>
Well, everyone on the film scanner list seemed to think that the SS4000 was
the way to go, so I went that way! It's got it's own personality, but does
what I want... There was a focus problem with the early ones, but that seem
to have been fixed.
<<Next month Nikon comes out with their 4000, but it won't run under
Windows NT (only 2000! keeping up ain't easy!). I will need to upgrade to
get the highest resolution scans for producing StereoJet images... (as well
as slides) >>
Well, NT doesn't support colour management, of course. So (in that respect)
2000 and 98 are superior...
<<That's great that you're doing the classic Whitehouse show. (How can I get
a
copy???) >>
Don't know! We (the Stereoscopic Society committee) have custodianship over
the Whitehouse shows, but we haven't considered the question of having copies
of the shows around...
I imagine that we will impose "fair use" conditions on the slides - they will
be issued for showing as complete sequences - no ripping off individual
slides!
And I suspect that we will permit showing to non-3-D groups, generally. Shows
to PSA, NSA etc will need prior agreement from us - to avoid overshowing, and
keep the shows "fresh" if you see what I mean...
And then there's the question of synchronising tracks. I use Bassgen UX-Plus
controllers, which use the "mate-track" system (if thsat's the right name!)
and so should be compatible with Arion, Imatronic etc but I have no way of
checking. I would want to be sure that showings of the sequences were exact
facsimiles of my interpretation... (I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm the
only one left that can _manually_ project these shows as Pat intended. I'd
like to ensure that the interpretation is preserved...
What do you think? How would you use a copy of the "Tribute to Handel" for
instance?
Bob
PS - I hope to get a chance to worship at the Church when I come over with
Alan Mahon for the NSA convention...
