It has three-element 35mm lenses.  I too was disappointed
to use one.  I could barely see 5p.  This is useless for
me as I now mount most slides in 8- mounts (31.5mm wide)

The gold button Realist was marketed as a companion to the 
Macro Realist so it is supposed to cover 5p.  It looks
identical to the red button, only the controls are painted
gold.  The focusing has been modified to allow for closer
focusing.  I have not seen one of these offered for sale 
in ebay yet.  I did buy one a few years ago and sold it a 
few months later.
