[photo-3d] Copying Glass Slides
- From: "Phil Palmer" <phil_palmer@xxxxxxxxxxx>
- Subject: [photo-3d] Copying Glass Slides
- Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2001 18:05:06 +0100
After asking at our the 'local interest museum' whether they had any
stereoshots of the local area I was passed on to a member of staff who is a
keen photographer and used to live next door to another local
stereo-photographer (Bruce Mills) - He believed they had some slide and
would get back to me.
I had a phone message this week - He had unearthed 10 glass stereo slides
(some on a single piece of glass, some where the left and right are
separated). He says the date is approximately 1870 !
After speaking to him today he has offered to release them into my care so
that I can have a go at copying them. I've have promised to do copies for
the museum of anything I produce.
I am looking for suggestions of how I should go about the copying.
I would like to copy to 35mm film for mounting in RBT mounts and also
possibly to holmes stereocard format.
I was thinking of setting up a copystand using an SLR with a lightbox.
Any other ideas / suggestions?
I do not yet know what state these slides are in or there dimensions.
Thanks
