In the Rochester NSA convention we learned that "Mr. Stereo"
(I don't remember his name now but he worked for Kodak and
did a good number of stereo-related work) had designed a
projector which would first project the image unpolarized,
then the operator quickly aligns with a joystick and then
polarization comes on.  I recall that Bill Davis "inherited"
this projector but have not heard any reports on its use.
The idea is interesting but I don't know how the audience
would see this switch from polarization/stereo to non/polarization
2d.
