Except that a glass-smooth surface, depending on the paint
texture, could yield a hot spot toward the projector axis? Even a
fine fabric texture, though, may reduce this effect. Coarsely
ribbed or lenticular material would probably negate a silver
screen advantage, the fine detail that can be resolved.
Fwiw, here's an aluminum paste paint that works quite nicely
(don't know if it's ideal): Kurfees (brand) Rustplate Aluminum
Paint, "Bright Metallic", 475/95. This was $2.99 a quart at a
discount store. The vehicle is linseed oil and resin based, takes
a couple of days to dry, and didn't stiffen the synthetic fabric I
sprayed it on. Don't know how it will hold up over the years in
terms of flexibility, but so far so good.
