Personally, I think both orientations are compromised by not
taking advantage of the entire screen area.  Only the Realist
and other square formats benefit from a square screen.

I respectfully disagree.  Vertical 3d is an exception.  It should
not dictate the aspect ratio of a stereo club's screen.

If I were in charge of ordering a screen for a stereo club,
I would order a horizontal screen.  Those who want to
project vertical 3d slides they are welcome to use
the vertical height of the screen.

To go one step further, I think vertical 3d should be banned
from stereo clubs! :)
