[photo-3d] need help

hi,
I am a Surveying Engineer in Istanbul and I will prepare a thesis about 3D
City Models and Plans in my university. So I'm trying to gain some
information and searching the sources, articles etc. about this subject(3D
modelling and city models). First of all I have some question to find as
follows
-what is it?
-how can prepare
-benefits and requirement of that

I' ll be glad if you help me on links, articles and texts. need your
suggestions...
