I bet you didn't have much trouble finding a buyer and getting back your
investment when you sold your RBT. Try that with a two year old digital
camera. "Better" depends on what you're trying to do. I've been tempted to
spring for one of the currently available "3 mega-pixel" cameras, but for
now the better solution for me is to shoot slides and save up for a 4000
d.p.i. scanner. When the output from slide recorders can match the quality
and economy of original transparencies I'll reconsider. At $8.00 per full
frame stereo pair I can't afford to make slide recorders the main source of
transparencies to feed my Red Button viewer. I'm also not convinced that
we're going to see consumer 25 mega pixel imaging devices, even in 10 years.
Consider the consumer digital audio market. Manufacturers seem to have
little interest in coming out with digital audio products that improve on
the quality of the CD format, but are actively promoting lower fidelity MP3
players that are cheap and convenient.

On the other hand, it might not be long until the digital cameras you're
using are laughably obsolete. Meanwhile those 3d "dinosaur" cameras will
still be producing images with higher resolution!
