I don't think I've used the swivel lens when doing cha-cha's,
but for 2D snapshots (like when there's things moving all
over the place) I've found the swivel lens "priceless". For
instance, when in a crowd I like to hold the camera up
above the crowd and snap a photo from there.  I can do that
and see the screen at the same time (to see what I'm
pointing at).  It's even handy, even if not 'required' when
doing desktop photos on a tripod.  Main part of camera
(on tripod) vertical with the lens-part pointed downwards
a bit (and point'able w/o fussing with tripod head).
