I think you're on the right track, but getting a bit too esoteric.
For the masses, when they go to digital, they're still going to
want prints, and they're still likely to get it from wherever they
get film-sourced prints now.  Some will go to web places,
some will email images, etc, etc, but
for the masses, generally speaking, they need to get it from the
1-hour lab in their store and have it cost the same dirt-cheap amount
per print they pay now (which at Costco is nearly "free" for the
overnight service).

IMO, anyway. :-)
