"STEREOSCOPES Victorian 3D Entertainments & Modern Counterparts" is a
public exhibit of materials that illustrate the emergence and
development of stereo viewing. It also is a symposium for stereo
viewing, which will include a brief look at projected stereo images
and a longer look at antique view cards. The exhibit is open during
April and May 2001.
An announcement by the sponsor gives the details:
"Ted Sly, Orange County Historian, is proud to offer a fascinating
and entertaining program on stereo viewing on Saturday, April 28 at
the Historic 1841 Court House in Goshen (New York) at 10 :00 a.m.
(coffee at 9:00.) The presentation and execution will be under the
direction of Stuart Stiles of Middletown. Everyone attending will
have a viewer and several card reproductions to use during the
symposium.
(The bio of the speaker is given)
As a supplement to the Saturday program, an exhibit of stereoscopic
materials will be shown at the Court House on Mondays through
Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
… Please join us for these interesting and free-of-charge activities."
Comments on the exhibit and participation in the symposium by stereo
enthusiasts will be appreciated. If you are in the Goshen, New York
area, as Ted states, these events are free-of charge. I'll leave it
up to you to determine how "interesting," "fascinating,"
and "entertaining" they are. I have done by best to promote
awareness of stereoscopes, and to promote interest in 3d images.
Stuart
