I'm not sure if anyone as tested this with the higher end consumer
digitals. The Olympus E-100 RS can fire at a rate of 15 frames/sec.
Which I think is a bit faster than 35mm motion (but, I'm not sure). It
would be interesting to sync two of these up an see though. In general
Olympus is well known for their fast storage/recovery rates. This model
is very popular with action shooters.

True, I've done this. But, I still prefer the digital camera's ability
to allow you immediately view your images.....with no processing or film
cost.
For me I want to use both, because both are fun in their own ways.
So, who wants to see me a Realist of Kodak? ;-)
