There are a lot of display options for digital images, but there are
also a lot of display options for non-digital images.  The
advantage of digital images is the possibility that stereo images can
be converted to different formats very easily by the user rather than
the photographer.  This not only includes the stereo format, but
also the magnification, cropping, and in some cases the stereo base.

IMHO the tools that would allow the user to decide the format
much more easily are still under-developed.  This is especially true for

web browsers.  Once these tools become more developed, the
standardization of the image files will become less tricky.  I believe
this will happen.  The question is how long will it take.
