I have built several such units in almost every format except standard VHS.
My Hi-8 rig is genlockable (I genlocked the camcorders internally myself).
My dual miniDV rig is not, yet, but hopefully eventually will be.  I also
use a pair of video cameras (not camcorders) together with a pair of Super
VHS decks.

Some of these rigs have been covered in previous postings.
