This posting is for the 3D astronomy buffs and for all who are
interested in the history of 3D photography.
I have uploaded to the files section of this list, to a 'Moon in 3D'
folder, a PDF file with a 3D photo of the moon taken in 1865. The text
with the photo explains how this libration stereo of the moon was
taken.
Also in the folder is a much later animated GIF picture of the moon
librating (or nodding). It may be possible to extract 3D pairs from
this animated GIF, however this may also require scaling (up or down)
of one image as the moon has a slightly elliptical orbit about the
earth.
I find it interesting that 3D photographs of the moon were being taken
so soon after the dawn of photography.
