I agree completely, and I think I had said so in my comments. Perhaps we're
having a heated agreement. Seeing the vendors, even when a pleasant
activity, is low on the list in priority -- the only thing
I commented about is that they're not OFF the list completely and that
the biggest problem is usually one non-vendor event conflicting with some
other non-vendor event.
What would happen if the convention were made a day longer, and things
less parallel'ed? Can it happen, or is the format etched in stone?

Absolutely. What they do is simply amazing and even more so when done just for
the love of it!
