[photo-3d] Nimslo questions

Re: the Nimslo flash; I understand that the aperture is set at f5.6 when
the flash is used.  Is this the case when the flash is simply attached
to the camera (in off mode), or must the flash be turned on?  Is there a
way to trick the camera to remain at f16 while the flash is being used?

It seems that I read that the Nimslo can be used for time exposures if
the flash contacts are shorted while the exposure is being made.  Is
this correct?
