Hmmm... the "accurate answer" to which question?
I don't mean to be picky but I would call this a guideline, not
the "accurate answer". If the question is "how much to shift to
achieve the same on-film deviation" then the answer might be
accurate. If the question is "how much to shift to get a good
picture" then the answer is not necessarily accurate, IMO.
The difference is, the first is a math question, the second
is a question of aesthetics. I don't think there are accurate
answers when it comes to aesthetics.... but it is nevertheless
good to have some guidelines in the back of your mind and
experiment from there...
BTW, there is school of thought that believes that 1/30
is the answer to this question, *independent* of the
focal length! According to this school, the "angle of
convergence" and not the on-film-deviation should
be constant. Go figure! :)
