I've been mulling this idea over for a while now. Theoretically, it should be simple to
make a 3D digital camera. After all, it's only the CCD and memory. Even hacking two
"cheapie" digital cameras shouldn't be that hard. You could tie the shutter together with
a single switch and download the left and right images individually. A macro on your PC
could then merge the images in whatever format you want (say jps...).
I may have to give it a try the next time I see those $39.00 digitals that take poor
quality pictures. Or maybe those $89.00 ones they currently have at Walmart. That is if
my new hobby of restoring my recently acquired pinball machine doesn't bankrupt me first
:-) :-)
