Just like calling an ad in a newspaper, or replying to any "for sale" notice
- even here on S3D, the risk is not with the messenger (service) but with the
dishonest/misleading party. No, I'm not a stockholder - but i wish i was!
I, too, have been disappointed with some ebay transactions - and even had
$150 stolen on one occasion, but these problems have been very few compared
to the number of times i have been greatly satisfied. The pleasure of
finding rare items (and occasionally a good deal) has far outweighed the
risks for me personally. I will say that i have had mostly good transactions
with parties selling items here on the list, but i must also add that i've
had problems with some sellers here (S3D), as well.
As far as S3D posts about current ebay auctions, i think it should simply be
left up to those posting, whether they want to offend those on the list who
take offense, and whether they want to notify those who like being notified -
there will always be subscribers on both sides of this debate. Perhaps ebay
sellers could simply include the words "EBAY NOTICE" as the Subject of the
message. And remember, the delete key is never too far from one's fingertips
!
