S3D Re: Why and when to auction?

Dr. T.,

Even on eBay, in order to sell an item, the owner needs to specify a
price for which he/she will sell the item.  It is either the starting
price or a minimum selling price.  The high bidder only wins if he/she
has bid at least the minimum selling price.  Why make anyone wanting
to own your merchandise guess what to pay unless you want them to feel
bad when they haven't offered enough?  I am just getting back into
stereo after 30+ years.  How should I know how much 4" TDC lenses are.
I didn't bid the $70, but it didn't sound low to me.  You are the
expert and the owner.  How much should one spend for the 4" lenses and
not get taken to the cleaners at the same time.  How many times more
than $70 did you pay for the lenses?
