For what it's worth to the discussion, I was the one who sold the viewer and
slides to George, having bought them at a flea market in Michigan. Lots of
antiques go through these flea markets and antique stores daily and no one
asks for any documentation of a right to sell, except perhaps in the case of
something with historical significance (JFK's rocking chair, for example).
In this case the seller had only one other person who had shown any interest
in the viewer and slides - a photographer in Cleveland ;~), but the seller
didn't want to deal with shipping them.
As George has stated, the viewer is not pretty and was not even in working
condition when I bought it. The slides are amateur black & white, again
without great value to most people. People throw out family photos every
day. It's our interest in the format more than the subject matter that
makes these slides of any interest at all. I support all those who suggest
that George is perfectly in the right to offer these for sale.
