Out of curiosity, what is the alternative to active stereo viewing
while one is mounting.  Is there a way to passively stereo view
while mounting?

"Active" would lead me to believe that there's mini-TV cameras between
the slides and the viewer to have an active-system (or something like
that).  But photos I've seen of the device don't look that way.  Are
lenses considered "active" while free-air no-lens viewing is passive?

Terminology confused....
