Hi, there has been a lot of talk about Paypal changing their policies
on the egroups ebay group.
Here is a sample posting:
>PayPal has caused themselves a major negative publicity flap.
>PayPal is now requiring ALL sellers, no matter how small, to
>sign up for fee based accounts. Though fees are modest, they still
>violate two promises made by PayPal. The first broken promise
>was the payment tool would ALWAYS be free. The second broken
>promise was that no one would be forced into upgrading their
>accounts. Until PayPal makes good on these promises, their
>credibility is at risk.
>
>When you go to the PayPal site, do NOT click on an upgrade logo
>unless you are POSITIVE you want to change your account. These
>logos are programmed to take effect immediately, you do not get a
>chance to back out or change your mind.
>
>The Terms of Use agreement was also upgraded effective 11 Sep 00,
>so TAG strongly recommends that you read it.

I DID NOT upgrade - but I did write them a note, telling them that I
would no longer be putting their paypal logo in my auctions, however,
if someone asked, I would use it. Otherwise, I would use my account
for buying only and that I thought it very unfair to ask for payment
now that they had everyone there by advertising FREE accounts. I LOVE
their service - and I understand that it is HARD to give great
service for free, but this really rubs me the wrong way to get
everyone signed up, then switch!
I am going to use BidPay - it is still free - I think! That will be
what I go with for now. I just can't afford to use PayPal as my major
source of payment and have them take 1.9% plus .25 for every time
someone pays me! I will take a money order or check before I do that
very much!

I thought I would share this here since there is a lot of discussion
on this. I have never used paypal but know a lot of folks do.
