This is a custom-built close-up unit based on two prisms. 
The prisms are held by a metal frame and three screws at 
the top. 

In the front of the unit the prisms are separated by
approximately 1" (25mm). The back of the unit has openings 
to be attached in the lenses of the Stereo Realist. Two set 
screws hold the unit in place.

What this unit does is to reduce the Realist interaxial 
spacing from 70mm to 25mm. This allows the user to record 
more natural-looking close ups with the Realist. S

The unit was built by Paul Darnell and the construction 
looks very professional but I CANNOT GUARANTEE that the 
unit works as it was intended to work. I have not tried it
nor have I seen pictures taken from it. However, keep in 
mind that Dr. Paul Darnell was a meticulous stereo worker 
with a long carrier in stereo photography and many 
award-winning stereo pictures in International Stereo 
Salons. For a period of time he served at the Chairman of 
PSA's Stereo Division. He was a scientist and he has taken 
many stereo pictures of nature/scientific subjects from 
micrographs to astronomical pictures.

Bottom Line: Unit sold as-is, no returns.
