Stereo Viewer and slides from a company called Underground 
Surveys Corporation. The company was (is?) located in Fresno 
California and the box that comes with the viewer was mailed 
in Nov. 1975.

 The viewer is attractive looking plastic-built. It carries 
the label LAVAL and says "Made in Japan" at the bottom. 
Lenses appear to be single-element. Uses available light 
via a nice diffuser in the back. 

It accepts slides measuring approximately 114x50mm. This is 
the size of the "Easymounts" that Reel 3-D used to sell. 
These mounts accept full frame slides. It is possible to 
make a simple adapter from cardboard for the unit to 
accept Realist format slides. Also, a simple adapter can 
be made for the unit to accept 2 2x2 slides.  

Coming with the unit are 6 unusual stereo slides. They are 
all full frame, black and white, mounted in the Easymounts. 
The titles of the slides are: Debris, Casing Gone, 
Perforations, Compression, Collapse, Bacteria.

I hope someone into Underground Surveys will know what this 
is all about. The pictures look quite similar to me.

A fine item for the Stereo Viewer collector, Underground 
Enthusiast (DrDave?) or the person who wants to have everything!
