Re: TECH3D digest 4

RE:TECH3D
Wow! More files on my screen..and seems to be "secret" group for the
techies among us. I guess Disgests 1-2-3 are "secret" too. Of course
that could be because my IP was down this weekend. So I had 7 photo-3d
Digests and this #4 TECH3D just showed up. I am not sure if I caused the
IP to go down trying to send bigger photo than my email will handle to
Elyeis (?). Or they sent down and sent dozens of attempts into my SENT
file. Jophn B. wonders what should be on Photo-3D vs here.. says maybe
"in-depth" commercial equipment reviews. I love the in-depth! Freudian
slip eh what! With the amount of "commercial" 3d equipent around I don't
think we will be overburdened.
This elite group is sort of like a private email..wonder whether the
subject should not be seen by all, even if only for education. Was this
inspired by the guy who hated the article in Stereo World on Macro
Realist..must have be a Cliffite. I like to comment on the historical
past as I remember it...heh heh heh.
John Roberts was commenting on movie projection flicker etc. First the
early AC was 25 cycles and still was on the subways in NYC when I was
there '48-54! You could see those bulb flicker out of the corner of your
eye, but not when you looked directly at a bulb. Cones vs rods here.
The original 12-16 frames of movies was the number to get smooth action
but caused flicker until what was called a Geneva geer movement was
added to the shuttle that moved the frames and the projector had blades
added to increase light interuptions to a higher flicker that was
unnoticlbe to most..looking directly ahead to screen. The 24 frames came
in not for flicker but to make sound tolerable when they went from
syncronized record turntable to sound track on film..The also had to
arrange the film path to be smooth as the sound head as it was shuttling
at the gate with the intermittant movement. If you haven't done it wave
your spread fingers in front of your monitor or TV set to see the stobe
stopping effect of the fast scan even 60 cycles gives. BobH
