There are lots of rangefinders.  But as for stereo rangefinders, I don't 
know.  Peter is bound to know.  I do know there was a pair of binoculars 
with reticles at the oculars' foci and those reticles had sort of fenceposts 
meandering zig-zag across the field of view.  The fenceposts were at 
different distances and had ranges tagged to them.  You set one of those 
fenceposts on top of your object and Bob's your uncle, you've got the range 
unless your stereo vision is on the Fritz.  I think the large rangefinders 
used for ranging battleships were coincidence, weren't they, Peter?
