A little more about Reflectors

Just for those who are interested, one of the best materials to use as a
Lambertian Reflector is Barium Sulfate. For those who are VERY SERIOUS there
is an outfit in New Hampshire called Labsphere whose whole existance is
centered around making Integrating Spheres and whatnot using the Barium
Sulfate and another Proprietary material which is more Nylon based but just as
white (Spectrolon). These materials are excellant for use as White Reference
materials or as surfaces in "Integrating" Spheres and Cylinders. Another
less expensive and more readily available material is a product of ICI called
Melenex. It comes in many flavors of white, clear, glossy and matte (it has
many uses non-optical related). I've identified one in particular that would
work good in a "Cylindrical Reflector" for a viewer but I can't think of
which one it is off hand. If you are really interested I can go back and
look it up and tell you where to get it and everything. I think I even gave
George a sample one time, didn't I George?
I also have a very good source for Fluorescent lamps and drivers which
would work good in a viewer. Contact me for details.
