Whew!  I didn't get much of anything you said there.  8-(  I got 
as far as your saying that I moved the far object in closer rather 
than vice versa and then I got totally lost.  You computer 
compositors really do think about 3D geometry in a different way 
from me.  Perhaps that has contributed to my profound lack of 
understanding of your methods.  Well, as long as it works, right?  
I'll work on your post some more and see if I can figure it out.
