Let's use a simpler example. A 28 mm camera lens and a
56 mm viewing lens for the resulting slides. This gives
us 100% stretch.
If you shoot with normal baseline then X and Y dimensions
appear correct but Z appears doubled. If you now reduce
your baseline to half of normal then X and Y appear
doubled in size and Z is four times.
So as far as I understand it, changing baselines
scales all three dimensions, viewing with the wrong
lens only affects the depth (Z) direction. So monkeying
with the baseline can't fix the stretch or squish.
