     I think the best way to see what is the effect of viewing in a viewer
with 50mm lenses images taken with 28mm lenses is to do test shots.
     What the mind will accept may be different than what the geometric
theory suggests.

     The (discredited)PePax theory says that if you shoot with a 35.84mm lens
separation you will counteract the 'stretch.' This is not true geometrically,
of course, because as Greg said,

"The stretch will enlarge thing in the depth dimention. Using a baseline
different than eyespacing will scale everything in all three dimentions."

     But the brain may get more comfortable with the stretch if the baseline
is smaller...

     I suspect most folk that view the images will notice the 2D perspective
distortions more than the stretch.
