Re: Wide Angle...
If you want to see a simulation of what all these alterations do to
the displayed image, download the shareware program "3DMAP" from my web
site. http://info.curtin.edu.au/~iwoodsa
The program runs under DOS and requires a machine with a 386 (w/coprocessor),
486DX or higher.
You can increase and decrease many different parameters (focal length,
camera separation, convergence distance, viewing distance, display size,
parallel or toed-in cameras ...) and see (as a plan view) what
effect this has on the displayed stereoscopic image (not that you see
any images in stereo with this program).
All the theory behind this program is described in the paper
"Image Distortions in Stereoscopic Video Systems" (also available
from my web site) but play with the program before reading the paper.
