First I want to thank Peter for the exposition on the present
subject.  Fantastic!  

I'm still in a little confusion as to what a "natural" focal
length might be but I'm thinking it really doesn't matter.
Whether you are looking at a stereo photo or a flat photo,
unless you are catatonic, your eyes will be moving all over 
the image.  A natural angle of view for the still eye won't 
be part of the equation for the scanning eye.
