T3D Camera Lenses in Viewers?
- From: Bill Davis <bd3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

As long as T-3D is awake :--), I'll ask this one:
Lattie Smart posted this over on P-3D a week or so ago and never got a
response. Can anybody here offer some advice?

I had also wondered about this. With older SLR lenses often available at
reasonable prices in auctions, swap meets and such, this sounds
interesting. One could get a pair of no-name 35 mm fl lenses for a *lot*
less than new achromats of a much smaller diameter. Ortho on a budget!
I've only got one flattie SLR, an AE1, but I popped off the 50mm lens to
check. It seemed to be able to focus on a slide held behind it, but the
lens is an auto job that stops down about halfway when removed from the
camera, so I couldn't open it up to see the whole image at once. What I
could see seemed OK. One would want to remove the diaphragms, auto or not I
suppose for viewers. *Can* the diaphragm be removed?
I do like the fit of the lens to my eye. A pair would neatly miss my
protuberant proboscis *and* fit under my overhanging brows, both a big plus
for someone who can barely see all 5-p in a Kodaslide II. So, should I
pursue this as a project or drop it for some reason obvious to everyone but me?
Best regards,
Bill Davis
