No need. Find the older style 50 mm FD lens with the breech lock collar.
The diaphram can be easily set wide open with the lens off the camera.
It will also likely be cheaper (I've seen these lenses for $15 or
less!). A possible disadvantage is that I think these older lenses are
physically larger, taking 55 mm filters instead of 52mm for the newer
ones. I think John B did some testing of these lenses once upon a
time... wonder if they would make good flat field viewing lenses when
used for close magnification? They are typically more highly corrected
for infinity and camera lenses are usually are not good enlarger lenses,
which is I think what you're looking to do?
